Dr. Sheila C. Gordon
Sheila C. Gordon is the founding president of Interfaith Community, Inc. She was a co-founder with Lee F. Gruzen of the informal program which laid the foundation for the IFC (Trinity Interfaith Education Program).
She brings to the Interfaith Community a long career in education, in philanthropy, and in the not-for profit sector, including: 20 years as a dean and professor at LaGuardia Community College/CUNY; administrative and program work at the Ford Foundation; and staffing major public policy studies related to education.
She has served as a trustee of Barnard College and the American Red Cross in Greater New York, and in numerous other volunteer roles. She is a member of Congregation B’nai Jeshurun in New York City, where she has served as co-chair of the Interfaith Committee. She is the author of numerous articles in professional journals and books, as well as research and policy studies.
She holds a B.A. from Barnard College, an M.A. from Harvard and a Ph.D. from Columbia University. She and her Episcopalian husband have two adult daughters.
