CHILDREN'S CLASSES
REGISTER
The Interfaith Community has systematically developed a curriculum to educate children in grades Pre-K-6 about both their traditions. Team-taught by Jewish and Christian educators, our classes aim to nurture continuity with each faith, but not to blur their differences or to indoctrinate. Instead, we hope to provide children with basic literacy in each, to foster respect for religion and the meaning it can bring to life, to inspire joy and delight in their religious heritages and practices, and to lay a foundation for their own religious journeys.
BIBLE HEROES
Fall 2009
St James's Parish House, 1991, Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge
Grades K-5: Bible Heroes will familiarize children with great characters and related stories from both scriptures – including Ruth, King Solomon, David, and Samson, as well as the Apostle Paul, Mary and Martha, and St. John the Baptist. This class goes beyond the stories by focusing on a specific principle or value that each character displays, allowing them to explore what it means to take leadership and inspire others. The course also includes suggested family activities you may choose to do at home to reinforce the content covered in class.
SCHEDULE
Classes will meet approximately one Sunday per month from 4-6 pm
Tentative dates: December 13 2009,, January 10, February 7, March 14, April 11 and May 16, 2010
