Boston: Children's Programs

Current Classes •Teachers •Location

The Interfaith Community has systematically developed a curriculumto educate children in grades Pre-K-6 about both their traditions. Team-taught by Jewish and Christian educators, our classes aim to nurture continuity with each faith, but not to blur their differences or to indoctrinate. Instead, we hope to provide children with basic literacy in each, to foster respect for religion and the meaning it can bring to life, to inspire joy and delight in their religious heritages and practices, and to lay a foundation for their own religious journeys.

Celebrating our Traditions (K-4): COT will focus on the rituals and Bible stories associated with the major holidays of
Judaism and Christianity. Specifically, the course will concentrate on five Christian holidays (Lord’s Day, Advent/
Christmas, Lent/Ash Wednesday, Easter, and Pentecost) and five Jewish holidays (Shabbat, Rosh Hashanah,
Hanukkah, Passover and Shavuot.) The course also includes suggested family activities you may choose to do at
home to reinforce the content covered in class.

Based on interest, classes will begin in November 2011.

Location: American Friends Service Committee/St James's Church Offices, 2161 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge,
MA
