PANEL DISCUSSIONS ON INTERFAITH MARRIAGE AND PARENTING
At each panel discussion, a panel of Interfaith Community parents discuss their experiences building an interfaith family. They reflect on the ways they have celebrated holidays, dealt with extended family, made decisions about their children's religious upbringings, explained their differences to children, addressed their children's spiritual and religious inclinations, and responded to their own. Expert guests include clergy, interfaith couples counselors, and religious educators. The programs encourage interaction and discussion.
SINGLE SESSION WORKSHOPS
These single session workshops are designed to give couples a chance to explore their feelings on a given topinc related to Interfaith life in an open and accepting way. At each workshop, Interfaith communtiy staff lead small groups who are trying to engage issues which are important to them. Exercises and questions relating to each topic have been adapted from our formal multi-session couples workshop. Topics have included: Baptism and Baby Naming and the Importance of Religious Education.
FORMAL COURSES
Formal multi-session courses are held on a variety of issues relating to both traditions. These courses are developed and taught by trained educators using the same exacting standards as our classes for children.
Past topics have included:
Judaism and Christianity for Interfaith Couples: Questions of Belief, a four course seminar led by Clay Dockery, M. Div and Tamar Auberl; that focused on the nature of Belief and theolgy and how beliefs and practices have a major impact on our everyday lives..
Our Differing Jewish and Christian Perspectives, a three course seminar led by Clay Dockery, M. Div and Andi Rosenthal; that explored the historical and cultural forces behind Jewish and Christian identity.
Bris or Baptism - and other ritual issues facing interfaith families, led by Rev. Mark Hallinan, SJ; Rev. Anne Conroy; and Rabbi Daniel Brenner.
How to Understand Easter and Holy Week, led by Rev. Mark Hallinan, SJ; and Rev. Anne Conroy.
"The Passion": An Opportunity for Interfaith Families, led by Rev. Mark Hallinan, SJ; and Rabbi Samuel Gordon.
